Young home seekers need more streamlined information to make key decisions before purchasing a HDB because they feel overwhelmed navigating through disorganized information. This project aims to consider the usability & design between two relevant apps, to combine and challenge the idea.
With reference to the Google Website & the Airbnb App, HDB homes is a protoype app to help young home seekers find their sources of information within Singapore.
Google x Airbnb
Picking up affordance from Google & Airbnb, HDB Homes is a platform where users make the initiative going through a step by step process to find for the information they require to purchase a home in Singapore.
With the integration of Singpass QR code, this app allows for easy access to necessary information required to finance a home. The use of the search bar helps the users to think & anticipate what they are really looking for and the quick links below aids them in finding keywords easily.
With binary choices, it keeps the interface clean and easy to navigate. Upon displaying the search results, users will be able to scroll and look for suitable locations that are available on the market. They can add their desire home results on their dash board and submit an application via the app as well.
From left to right
1. Users want to be able to select from a list of options.
2. Users find that it is necessary to include a filter function within the search results page.
3. Upon clicking on one of the result, they want to know the location of the project.
4. Font size & segregation of important numbers makes the results more clear.
As the project lasted for a week, I enjoyed the process, of understanding the users needs and pain points through a persona, sketching and making sense of a user flow like I am the user and building the low-fi prototype in grey scale.
As a young home owner myself, I like the idea of integrating Singpass to retrieve necessary information and the combination of scrolling through the search results like finding a place on Airbnb. I wwould love to carry this project to the next level in hope that it can be implemented one day.
